70th Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is joining the Institute as a Carnegie Distinguished Fellow and will be a unique voice in the discussion of ideas at the Institute.

McLean, Virginia—Today Columbia University’s Institute of Global Politics (IGP) housed at the School of International and Public Affairs, announced that Secretary Mike Pompeo will be joining the Institute as a Carnegie Distinguished Fellow for a one-year appointment.
In his role as a Fellow, Secretary Pompeo will add to the mission of the Institute to “drive impact on today’s global challenges by convening leading scholars and practitioners, developing policy solutions, and preparing the next generation of leaders” through his interactions with Columbia University students and leaders.
“I am thrilled to join the Institute and to provide a unique voice defending traditional American values and the Founders’ vision for our great nation, alongside the necessity to support our allies across the world,” said Secretary Pompeo. “I appreciate the commitment of the Institute to a broad spectrum of opinions and look forward to engaging with students and faculty around a central mission of the university: learning through investigation and the exchange of ideas," continued Pompeo.
